OLD clothes – NEW stories!

Clothing swap + workshops + fashion show

From forgotten to one-of-a-kind

As part of MAKE-A-THEK, from May 2026 to April 2027 we opened a space at Kranj City Library for exchanging and transforming clothes. Once a month, you can turn your wardrobe upside down, bring pieces you no longer wear, swap them and give them an upgrade at a hands-on Clothing RE-creation workshop.

We begin where things usually end: with the question of what happens to a garment when we no longer wear it. Through conversation, we open up the topic of fast fashion, explore alternatives and think together about how each of us can contribute to a more sustainable, circular way of dressing.

Then comes the heart of the programme: Clothing RE-creation, a series of garment-transformation workshops. Each meeting is a small adventure — one piece of clothing, one challenge, countless possibilities and one finished creation.

DREAM ECO BAG

What would your dream bag look like? What would it carry? What could you make it from?

We look for ideas in discarded clothes and accessories. Perhaps an old shirt is hiding an everyday bag, a pair of jeans could become a shopper, a tie could turn into a handle, or a belt into the perfect shoulder strap.

Let your imagination lead and create a bag that reflects your style. We will explore different bag shapes, the basics of planning, cutting and machine sewing, and discover how pockets, zips, buttons, belts, ties and other details can become distinctive design elements.

You will leave with a unique, useful piece over your shoulder — and proof that the best stories often begin exactly where something seems to have reached the end of its road.
